I guess it was just our luck that the day we chose to finally have our long-anticipated date was the most beautifully sunny day of the year so far! I've been waiting months to dine with this beautiful, talented, hilarious, etc. girl! I could literally talk about her for ages. We've been planning our meal for way too long, debating between Freshii and HipCityVeg to continue expanding the collection of Philly's healthy spots we've tried out... And boy did we make a great choice settling with HipCityVeg! Right Roops? ;) LOL!
The weather was absolutely perfect for a run down from campus! And the run definitely prepared our appetites for our midweek treat at HipCityVeg! The owner of the restaurant, Nicole Marquis (who also worked with Rich Landau of Vedge, loved the concept of cooking completely with plant-based foods, hence starting this "vegan fast food" joint. They had everything from portobella mushroom burgers to chick'n fajita wraps. The sweet potato fries and groothies seemed to be ubiquitous throughout the whole restaurant as well!

We ordered the curry tofu wrap with sprouts, spinach, tomato and cilantro-white bean puree with cucumber raita on the side. The filling was so tasty and rich -so much so that the cucumber dip was left almost completely untouched. It was super refreshing and had a perfect balance of textures and tastes. And how could we have come all the way down without getting dessert to cool off from the heat? I ordered a banana whip with brownies to take for us to continue our walk around the area to explore other places to nom :) I was surprised by how good the brownies were, especially for being vegan! Overall, guiltless and delicious!

We continued over to check out other places around, like Max Brenner (which we're going to this Sunday for Roopa's birthday brunch!) and Freshii... On our way we passed by Federal Donuts and after an awkward moment gawking through the window, we had to go in! The guy inside teased us for being so awk, but after ordering, gave us a fresh-out-of-the-oven complimentary cinnamon-brownsugar donut! Maybe the nice weather is just infecting everyone with happiness?
After g-big told big and I all about their notoriously delicious donuts and fried chicken, I had to bring some back for big too! ;)
